There’s always been something about a black top that makes me feel a little more jazzy. I always feel a little more dressed up when I wear black, even when I’m wearing a t-shirt, like the one in this post. What I still haven’t come to terms with quite yet is that I’m the mother of a sometimes very messy 9 month old that I carry around a lot. She’s yet to learn manners, so often times, she gets her grimy little (adorable) paws on me… ones that have food particles or yogurt melts stuck to them (that she then sticks on me). Or rubs her sweet little (boogery) nose on my shoulder when I hold her. Or she wears some white sweater that sheds and I pick her up and it’s all over me. I wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world, however, I need to a double check of my clothes when I walk out the door, especially if I’m wearing black. Fun fact, I had to lint roll my shirt for that very reason, prior to taking this photo :).
But I still love wearing black, and I love this top! I have it in multiple colors — it’s only $22, too! The little knot on the bottom adds an extra detail that I just love. I also think this shirt would be great if you were newly pregnant or postpartum because it’s a longer shirt and has some room in the mid-section. I am going on a lunch date with my hubby today so I wanted to look cute, so that’s why I paired my boyfriend jeans with this top and heels. It’s fun to add a dressier top (even if it’s just a black tee) and heels to boyfriend jeans sometimes! It’s our daughter’s 9 month appointment at the doctor today, so we are going to that and grabbing lunch afterwards. We’re trying really hard to make time for one another, so mid-week lunch dates are sometimes our best option. And I tell ya, they’re not what they used to be with all the set up and feeding of a certain high-maintenance party at our table 😉 But we are trying!
